Another key component of helping to maintain your pet’s health and happiness is having them on reliable, consistent heartworm preventative.
Heartworm disease is serious and potentially fatal to our dogs and cats. Heartworms are spread by mosquito bites and can grow up to a foot long, living in the heart and lungs of our beloved pets.
Unless you intend to breed, we recommend having pets spayed or neutered. Pets that have been spayed or neutered tend to live longer and have healthier lives.
Regular wellness exams allow us to catch underlying health problems early, provide consistent preventative care, and support your pet’s overall health and well-being.
It's hard to provide care without knowing the root of what is ailing your pet, which is why diagnostic testing is so important. Diagnostic testing can include laboratory testing (blood, urine, and fecal) and diagnostic imaging like X–rays, CT, MRI, and ultrasound.
Our veterinarians are skilled in diagnosing common problems that affect our pets like vomiting, itching, lumps, limping, and more.
From routine cleanings to tooth extractions, the Thrive Pet Healthcare network of Primary Care veterinarians and Dental Specialists is here to keep your pet's smile fresh! Our general practices can take care of everyday dental maintenance with outstanding regular check-ins, cleanings, and basic surgeries.
Meanwhile, our specialty veterinarians are prepared to handle more complex or chronic dental cases like a root abscess, jaw fracture, abnormal tooth formation, or advanced periodontal disease. These doctors are highly trained within the field of veterinary dentistry and have access to specialized equipment, typically unavailable at primary care clinics.
Vaccines are essential for preventive care and can increase the chances of a longer, happier life for pets. Ensuring that pets are consistently up to date with their vaccinations can help prevent contracting disease or help lessen the severity of symptoms if a disease is contracted.
Fleas can cause itchy skin, skin infections, and spread tapeworms. Ticks can carry disease such as Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis, and more.
The occasional taps, scrapes, and scratches that happen when playing with your pet means it's time for a trip to your local veterinarian or boarding facility! Trimming your pet's nails is a healthy part of their life, and can lead to greater comfort in everyday activity.
Let's face it - the life of a pet can be pretty dirty. Playing in things and making a mess, self-grooming, and all the little things that our pets enjoy every day doesn't always make for a great smelling companion. That's why our Thrive Pet Care partner clinics offer bathing services to get your pet sweet smelling and sparkly clean!
Bathing specialists at Thrive Pet Care partner clinics know what it means to give a scared pet a bath too, as they're trained and prepared in keeping your pet calm, even when they don't like being clean. When your pet comes back out, you'll be glad they got a bath - and they will be too!
Do you work long hours and worry about your fur-baby alone all day? Help keep your pet safe and stimulated while you're gone by taking them to one of our pet day care centers! Our passionate staff will ensure your pet is getting adequate exercise, lots of snuggles, and socialization with some of their favorite pet friends.
It’s never easy leaving your best furry friend behind when you take a trip, but thankfully you can feel calm and relaxed knowing they are in the safest of hands with our pet boarding and daycare teams. Our facilities have a wide variety of comforts and specialties that you can add for your pet to enjoy during their stay! When you bring your pet to a Thrive Pet Care partner facility, you can rest easy knowing your pet is playing, interacting, and sleeping the day away until they're ready to greet you at the door again at the end of their stay.
It can be really tough to trust another person with your fur child - after all, you are the only person who truly understands your pet’s unique needs and behaviors. However, we hope as a national leader in pet healthcare, you can have confidence in our team’s commitment to care for your pet as if they were our own.
Acupuncture has been used in human medicine for over 5,000 years and in animals for over 3,000 years. Properly administered by our highly trained veterinarians, acupuncture is one of the safest forms of medical treatment for pets suffering from a wide range of conditions.
Laser therapy (also called cold laser, therapeutic laser, or low-level laser) is an incredibly safe technology that delivers photons of light directly to a pet's injured or painful tissue. Extensive research has shown how this process can help to improve neurologic function, heal wounds, decrease swelling and reduce their pain by interacting with mitochondria, stimulating rapid repair of damaged cells. Cold laser therapy works well for pets suffering from:
Osteoarthritis
Joint Pain
Spinal Cord Injuries
Rattlesnake bites
Muscle Tension
Wounds
And More!
We will be by your side during this time of need to offer both medical assistance and emotional support.
We want you to feel supported when making difficult decisions around your pet’s health. Hearts & Halos is a team of compassionate veterinarians in the Thrive Pet Healthcare community who can help you understand your pet’s current quality of life. They can provide you with guidance, counseling, and the opportunity to give your pet a gentle, loving, and respectful transition in the comfort and peace of their favorite place: home.
DVM
Dr. Silvia Colladay is a 2001 UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine graduate. A Louisiana native that made her home in Laguna Beach in 2001 where she started her journey in clinical practice. Dr. Colladay spent her early years in practice as a mobile equine veterinarian, where she was able to keep the Orange County horse community healthy. Eventually, the mobile unit took on a mixed animal approach taking care of horses, goats, cats, dogs, and the occasional potbellied pig. In 2018 she wanted to make an impact on the veterinary community by teaching our future veterinary nurses at Stanbridge University Vet Technology Program. Beyond teaching, she was also the Program and Medical Director for the clinical small animal practice on-site. In addition, she is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture.
Dr. Colladay has a passion for volunteering in remote areas around the globe helping those care for their pets and working animals via the Humane Society and Rural Area Veterinary Services. She is excited to be LBAH's Medical Director and looks forward to working together with the local community in caring for their pets. Her special interest includes senior wellness, nutrition, preventative care, and internal medicine. When Dr. C is not taking care of your animals she enjoys spending her free time with her 4 children, 2 grandchildren, 2 cats-Manny and Gigi, and Polly the Pyrenes dog. She loves to hike, run and listen to books on audio.
